Nestle India finally hears the voice of Nexus 7 winners and gives them a Christmas to remember !

Tech2Yantra had reported earlier that the KitKat Nexus 7 contest winners in India were unhappy about getting the old and outdated Nexus 7 (2012) tablet as a prize, instead of the new and latest Nexus 7 (2013) tablet, that was promised through the promotional ads and posters by Nestle Kitkat India. The news about alleged cheating broke out on the web on Monday with major technology sites like Androidpolice.com reporting about it. Soon after, other major Indian Technology sites highlighted the news.

All the protests and campaigning over a week by the dedicated group of winners at Facebook really paid off when finally today Nestle Kitkat India posted a message on their official page which read like this:

Nestle India informed that the winners would now be receiving the new 2013 Nexus 7 tablet. They also pointed that they would contact the winners who have already received the older version tablet, to replace them with the new tablet version. The delivery dates and procedures will also be communicated shortly.

Almost instantaneously after the message was posted on Facebook, the winners group and eager Android-Kitkat fans made a dash to the Kitkat page and thanked Nestle India for finally hearing their voice, which indeed was rightful and justified.

Nestle India (and perhaps Google also) hopped in at the right time today to realize the potential denting of the Android-Kitkat image in India and managed to save face, before any further disgrace of the successful Android-Nexus device campaigns would have taken place. This was crucial indeed when considering Christmas was around the corner. This positive yet late realization of the mess up with the Kitkat India Nexus 7 contest could only enhance the image branding of the related companies and possibly increase sales of the new Nexus 7 (2013) and other Nexus devices in coming days.

In total it was a roller-coaster ride for the Facebook group of Kitkat Nexus 7 (2013) winners, who were rallying heavily to support their justified cause.

To conclude, I would say, similar promo campaigns and contests in India in the future can take a page of lesson from this fiasco and hopefully realize the potential of structured Facebook protest campaigns such as these that surely yielded a successful happy result !

KitKat India finally makes the contest winners happy before Christmas !

Happy Christmas to all and enjoy shopping at Flipkart and Amazon India, which have some cool offers through the GREAT ONLINE SHOPPING FESTIVAL (GOSF).
